City of St. Louis Animal Care and Control strongly recommends “chipping” your pet. A small microchip is inserted into your pet, typically above the shoulder, that can then be scanned by veterinarians, shelters, or other rescue groups that will show the owner’s information. In the event your pet gets lost, this information will help to return your pet.
Microchip services are often available at veterinary offices and shelters, and often they are available at low-cost during pet-related events and programs. For more information about microchipping services, please click here.
